Doctors Without Borders (MSF) Internships 2022/2023

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is offering a Digital Communications Internship opportunity to graduates with a strong interest in humanitarian work. The intern will provide administrative, writing, editing, graphic design, reporting and research support to the Communications team of the MSF South Africa.

Purpose

Interns will report to the Social Media Officer and will be responsible for various tasks on the MSF Southern Africa website, social media platforms and other duties within the field.Interns will be required to work approximately 40 hours per week (5 days a week) – they will receive a monthly stipend and transport allowance. Interns will also receive other resources needed to fill their role, including: working space, computer, internet, stationery and other resources.

Duration 12 months
Starting date: as soon as possible

Interns will develop skills and knowledge in the following area:

  • Time management skills
  • Website management skills
  • Community Management skills
  • Social Media Monitoring and Reporting
  • Understand how content works on digital platforms
  • Analytical skills
  • Adobe Creative Suite Skills

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must have completed a qualification in any of these fields: Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or a similar field
  • Must be computer literate
  • Must have good working knowledge of social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn)
  • Must have experience in managing social media accounts
  • Must be interested in developing online communication and marketing tactics
  • Must be highly interest in humanitarian issues
  • Must have a creative and flexible approach to work
  • Must be able to work well within a team
  • Must be fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Must have experience balancing short-term and long-term responsibilities
  • Must be able to work under pressure when necessary
  • Must be able to work in breaking-news situations
  • Must be interested in working collaboratively on projects and teaching others what you know
  • Must pay close attention to detail
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must be able to work part of a team and interdepartmentally
  • Must have excellent organisational skills
  • Must be able to multi-task and carry out different tasks simultaneously
  • Must be able to prioritise time and resources accordingly whilst maintaining an overview of all activity
  • Must have a strong interest in humanitarian work
  • Must be determined and committed
  • Must be keen to learn
