Umgeni Water is a state-owned enterprise (SOE) established in 1974 to provide bulk water and related services in the province. It is the
second-largest Water Board in South Africa and employs over 1300 committed, motivated and enthusiastic employees in diverse professions, trades, and occupational levels

Bursary Description

Umgeni Water hereby invites applications from students for the Bursary Programme for the 2022 academic year. Accepted students to the programme must have completed the first academic year of study. The bursaries are offered to students in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of study.

The Bursary covers:

  • Tuition and Registration
  • Meals and Accommodation
  • Prescribed textbooks, and stationery

Prospective students must be studying towards the following of study:

  • Bachelor of Science: Biochemistry/Chemistry
  • Bachelor of Science: Environmental Science/Ecology/Biology
  • Bachelor of Science: Chemical Engineering
  • Bachelor of Science: Hydrology
  • Bachelor of Science: Electrical Engineering
  • Bachelor of Science: Mechanical Engineering
  • Bachelor of Science: Civil Engineering
  • Bachelor of Science: Computer Science/ Data Science/ Cyber Security

The Bursary Application Form is obtainable from Umgeni Water website www.umgeni.co.za, and the institution Bursary Office. Clear certified copies of the following supporting documentation should be submitted directly to
graduaterecruitment@umgeni.co.za, for the attention of Ms. Nokuphiwa Mkhize – Skills Development Facilitator

Aplications must be accompanied by this document:

1. Proof of physical home address: A letter from the Traditional Authority Offices for those residing from the
villages and a letter from the Municipality Offices for those of Town/Townships / Farms (statement of account, e.g.
water bill will not be accepted.).
2. Certified copy of Valid South African ID document (student).

3. Matric certificate and current academic record (Statement of results) not older than 3 months.
4. Certified copy of proof of registration.
5. Motivation letter from the student.
6. Proof of parent (s) or guardian income (salary payslip). In the case of deceased parent(s), attach copy of Death Certificates

The closing date for applications will be Friday, 31 December 2021 at 16h00

Kindly note that first preference will be given to students whose permanent place of residence is within KwaZulu-Natal Province
