Purpose of the Role

The Materials Handler plays a vital role in maintaining the efficient flow of stock and materials within AECI Plant Health’s warehouse. The position focuses on ensuring accurate stock movement, proper storage, safe forklift operations, and adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.

The goal is to ensure that products are prepared, packed, and dispatched with precision, maintaining AECI’s commitment to operational excellence and quality.


Key Responsibilities & Outputs

Stock Handling & Preparation Pick and prepare stock according to picking slips, ensure FIFO system for product rotation, and handle expired products correctly.
Forklift Operation Safely drive, maintain, and inspect forklifts daily; report any mechanical issues to supervisors.
Loading & Offloading Load and unload vehicles according to documentation and ensure zero discrepancies in stock movement.
Quality Control Ensure all drums and packaging are clean, sealed, and labelled properly before dispatch.
Housekeeping & Safety Maintain warehouse cleanliness and uphold internal and external safety standards.
Communication & Reporting Communicate product shortages, damages, and stock discrepancies to Despatch and Warehouse Team Leaders.
Stock Management Participate in stocktakes and maintain accurate barcoding and palletisation.

Note: While no stipend applies (as this is a permanent role), AECI Plant Health offers a competitive salary in line with the BL grade pay scale and full-time employee benefits.


Minimum Requirements / Eligibility

To qualify for the Materials Handler x3 position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Education: Grade 12 (Matric) essential
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year’s relevant experience in logistics, warehousing, production, or distribution
  • Forklift Operation: Valid forklift driver’s license and medically fit to operate a forklift
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with hazardous chemicals and road transport regulations
  • Physical Fitness: Must be in good physical condition due to manual material handling duties
  • Computer Literacy: Basic computer knowledge for warehouse documentation and tracking
  • Work Ethics: Accuracy, reliability, and ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Teamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
