Metrobus invites unemployed South African residents of the City of Johannesburg to apply for 94 EPWP General Worker opportunities for 2026.

About the Metrobus EPWP General Worker Programme

Metrobus is recruiting unemployed residents through the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP).

The programme aims to create temporary employment and provide participants with practical workplace exposure over a period of 12 months.

Successful candidates will be placed at various Metrobus depots and outlets within the City of Johannesburg.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Have at least Grade 10, N2 or NCV Level 2.
  • Be between 18 and 45 years old.
  • Be South African citizens.
  • Be unemployed.
  • Reside within the City of Johannesburg Municipality.
  • Provide recent proof of residential address.

Who Can Apply?

This opportunity is suitable for unemployed Johannesburg residents who meet the minimum education and age requirements.

Importantly, applicants do not need Matric if they have one of the accepted minimum qualifications, namely:

  • Grade 10
  • N2
  • NCV Level 2

Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee appointment, as Metrobus may receive more applications than the number of positions available.

Monthly Stipend

Successful applicants will receive a stipend of:

R5 500 per month

The programme runs for 12 months.

Applicants should note that this is an EPWP opportunity and does not guarantee permanent employment after completion.

  • Certified copy of ID.
  • Certified qualification or certificates.
  • Recent proof of residential address.

Applicants may also be required to produce original documents during the selection process.

Important Residence Requirement

Only applicants who live within the City of Johannesburg Municipality will be considered.

Applicants should therefore ensure that their proof of address is recent and clearly confirms their residence.
