Minimum Requirements – Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for the KZN Traffic Officer Learnerships 2025, you must meet the following requirements:
- South African Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Senior Certificate (Matric) or NQF Level 4 qualification
- Valid Code B driver’s licence (manual transmission)
- No criminal record – SAPS clearance certificate required
- Medical certificate (not older than 3 months)
- Physically and medically fit (State medical examination required)
- Age 18–35 years on the day of enrolment
- Strong ethical and professional standards
Skills & Competencies Required
- Excellent communication (verbal & written)
- Strong driving ability
- Independent and critical thinker
- Ability to work under pressure and in a team
- Good understanding of traffic legislation and public safety policies
Duties & Responsibilities (Post-Training)
Once appointed, Provincial Inspectors will be responsible for:
- Enforcing traffic, transport, and public passenger legislation
- Conducting roadblocks, point duty, and escorting abnormal loads
- Monitoring overload control and speed testing operations
- Securing accident scenes and identifying hazardous road locations
- Assisting in crime prevention and road safety campaigns
- Performing admin duties in support of RTI operations
