Minimum Requirements – Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the KZN Traffic Officer Learnerships 2025, you must meet the following requirements:

  • South African Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Senior Certificate (Matric) or NQF Level 4 qualification
  • Valid Code B driver’s licence (manual transmission)
  • No criminal record – SAPS clearance certificate required
  • Medical certificate (not older than 3 months)
  • Physically and medically fit (State medical examination required)
  • Age 18–35 years on the day of enrolment
  • Strong ethical and professional standards

  • Strong driving ability
  • Independent and critical thinker
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a team
  • Good understanding of traffic legislation and public safety policies

Duties & Responsibilities (Post-Training)

Once appointed, Provincial Inspectors will be responsible for:

  • Enforcing traffic, transport, and public passenger legislation
  • Conducting roadblocks, point duty, and escorting abnormal loads
  • Monitoring overload control and speed testing operations
  • Securing accident scenes and identifying hazardous road locations
  • Assisting in crime prevention and road safety campaigns
  • Performing admin duties in support of RTI operations
