Who Can Apply? Nursing Requirements for 2026
To be eligible for the Diploma in Nursing programme, you must:
Be a South African citizen residing in Gauteng
Have one of the following:
- Senior Certificate (Matric)
- National Senior Certificate (NSC)
- Currently in Grade 12 (use final Grade 11 marks)
- National Certificate (Vocational) in Primary Health
Subject Requirements
Depending on your school qualification, here are the minimum subjects and scores required:
Senior Certificate:
- English: HG D or SG C
- Biology: HG D or SG C
- Mathematics: HG D or SG C
- M Score: 17
National Senior Certificate (NSC):
- English: Level 4
- Life Sciences: Level 4
- Maths: Level 4 or Maths Literacy: Level 5
- APS: 27 or more (Life Orientation counts half)
National Vocational Certificate:
50% in Fundamental Subjects: English FAL, Maths/Maths Literacy, Life Orientation
60% in Vocational Subjects:
- SA Health Care System
- Public Health
- The Human Body and Mind
- Community-Oriented Primary Care
